About Us

Who is Dharma Down Under?

DDU is a non-denominational dharmic community based in Australia, bringing together young dharmic people of all paths to explore and learn about their traditions — without being bogged down by institutional dogma.

We focus on metaphysics, philosophy, and epistemology, and explore religious ideas from there — critical thinking used to draw real value from tradition, not to defend it reflexively.

What we stand for

Self-exploration first

We learn about our traditions by exploring them ourselves, not by being told what to believe.

Open, not closed

We're not closed off to new information or hard ideas — even ones that don't come from dharmic thought to begin with.

Rooted, not rigid

Our worldview is rooted in Indic philosophy, but we're not driven by any one religious perspective or institution.

Future-facing

We want a community that draws real value from tradition without the intergenerational baggage or ritual correctness — and that contributes meaningfully to the society around it.

How we do it

We regularly hold satsangs and presentations, and invite guest speakers who have written books or done remarkable things in their lives to be part of the conversation. Alongside that, we run regular activities — yoga, meditation, a running club, badminton, self-defense classes, trivia nights, and seva — so the community isn't just a discussion group, it's a real one.
